Nov. 12, 2009: Kirk Weddell Set to Produce Major Feature Film

Kirk Weddell (Pro Series 23) is set to produce “Storage”. Along with his co producer Mark Shields , they have optioned the rights to the horror screenplay written by Matt Winn and Chris Denne. The project will be produced by their company Atlantic Picture Company.

The screenplay was first developed by Lionsgate, and won the prestigious UK Film Council award for screenwriting competition, “25 words or less,” before being optioned by Atlantic.

Acclaimed British director Matt Winn is slated to direct the picture in early 2010. Industry veteran Gareth Jones has joined the development of “Storage” as Executive Producer.

Nov. 10, 2009: Julia C. Phillips Hired to Adapt Sci-Fi Novel!

Julia C. Phillips (ProSeries 24) has been hired to write an adaptation for the 2nd novel in a prominent Sci Fi series. At present, the details are confidential, but we’ll have an announcement with more information by the end of the year.

As part of the deal, Julia will receive her WGA card, which is currently being processed.

Great job, Julia. Can’t wait to read the announcement.

Nov. 9, 2009: Lynn Dickinson Scores Paid Writing Assignment

Lynn Dickinson (ProSeries 18) just signed another “work for hire” agreement with Russ Pond at Top Pup Media. She’s being paid to write the story beats and outline of a kid’s action script based on Pond’s original idea.

Lynn will receive “Story Consultant” credit. This is Lynn’s 2nd writing assignment with Top Pup Media and she has a script in development with Suntaur Entertainment.

It is one of the bigger contests (3,000 screenwriters), so this is quite an accomplishment. Great job, Kevin!

Rie Natalenko (ProSeries 1) signed a contract to write a romantic comedy script for Zar Productions, Australia – based on the producer’s idea.

Rie went through the standard Hollywood practice of pitching her take on the story. The producer loved the take and hired Rie on the spot.

Jill Maxcy (ProSeries 6) has secured distribution from Ingram Entertainment for her latest film “Black and Blue.” Jill shares “story by” credit with Tim Swain. The writer is Liz Maccie. Jill directed the movie.

Oct. 2, 2009: Wally Zambrano Nominated for Two Emmy Awards

The midwest National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has nominated Wally Zambrano (ProSeries 18) for two Emmy awards.

Wally has been nominated for “Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence” as both a director and producer. The winners of the Emmy awards will be announced on November 7th.
